US waste paper standards (PS-2003)
US Waste Paper Standards are
basically PS- standards and are set by ISRI, USA. These are the most
widely used standards in Waste Paper Industry.
PS-1 Soft Mixed
Paper
Consists of a mixture of various
qualities of paper not limited as to type of packing or fiber content
Prohibitive materials may not exceed 2%
Total Out throws may not exceed 10%
PS-2 Mixed Paper
Consist of a bale clean ,sorted mixture
of various qualities of paper containing less than 10% of ground wood
content .

Consists of baled, double sorted
corrugated containers, generated from supermarkets and/or industrial and

(Asian/European) corrugated plastic and wax.

acceptable in this grade.

included in this grade.

TABULATING CARDS
Consists of printed ground wood free
bleachable manila-coloured cards, which have been manufactured for use in

PS-37 SORTED OFFICE
PAPER
Consists of baled paper as typically
generated by offices, containing primarily white and colored groundwood
free paper, free of unbleached fiber. May include a small percentage of

PS-38 SORTED
COLOURED LEDGER
Consists of printed or unprinted sheets,
shavings, and cuttings of colored or white ground wood free ledger, bond,
writing, and other papers which have a similar fiber and filler content.
This grade must be free of treated, coated, padded or heavily printed
stock.Prohibitive materials: of 1%Total Out throws may not exceed: 2%
PS-39 MANIFOLD
COLOURED LEDGER
Consists of sheets and trim of new
(industrially generated) printed or unprinted colored or white ground wood
free paper used in the manufacturing of manifold forms, continuous forms,
data forms, and other printed pieces such as sales literature and
catalogues. All stock must be uncoated and free of non-impact printing. A
percentage of carbonless paper is allowable.
Prohibitive materials: of 1%

PS-40 SORTED WHITE
LEDGER
Consists of printed or unprinted sheets,
shavings, guillotined books, quire waste, and cuttings of white ground
wood free ledger, bond, writing paper, and all other papers which have a
similar fiber and filler content. This grade must be free of treated,
coated, padded, or heavily printed stock.
Prohibitive materials: of 0.5%

PS-41 MANIFOLD
WHITE LEDGER
Sheets and trim of new (industrially
generated) printed or unprinted white ground wood free paper used in the
manufacturing of manifold forms, continuous forms, data forms, and other

uncoated and free of non-impact printing. A percentage of carbonless paper
is allowable.

PS-42 COMPUTER
PRINTOUT
Consists of white ground wood free paper

stock must be untreated and uncoated.

PS-43 COATED BOOK
STOCK
Consists of coated ground wood free
papers, printed or unprinted in sheets, shavings, guillotined books and
cuttings. A reasonable percentage of papers containing fine ground wood

PS-44 COATED
GROUNDWOOD SECTIONS
Consists of new printed, coated ground

Consists of ground wood free printed

STOCK
